New visa requirements in the UAE
Now, it is not possible to extend a tourist visa without leaving the country. Numerous sources report that the UAE authorities have canceled the exemptions introduced in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. According to open sources, it is currently only possible to extend one's stay in the state only in Dubai after a 90-day stay.
However, there is a risk in refusal of an extension and it will be necessary to leave the country. In the remaining emirates this option is now not available. In November this year, the fine for overstaying tourist visas was reduced to AED 50 per day. If a tourist visa is overdue for more than 30 days, a person could face arrest. A resident visa holder who fails to change status or leave the country within 6 months after the visa expires could also face arrest.
